Asbestos is very harmful if inhaled or if it contaminates local water supply. Everest takes appropriate care of its employees and environment. The fiber is imported (not manufactured in India). ACC supplies the cement which is then mixed with this fiber to manufacture the asbestos sheets. The only part where risk is involved is when installing these sheets (by the asbestos consumers). The consumers usually cut the sheets to size and drill holes. This is when appropriate care must be taken.
So the risk is for asbestos consumers and not the areas like Kymore where they manufacture asbestos sheets. If you are really concerned, don't use asbestos or live in a place that is constructed by asbestos. (Sadly the whole Everest colony is made of asbestos sheets)

There may be many other causes bro but if you work in an asbestos plant long enough you are most likely to get lung cancer. Other than writing if you can read, there are links up there in my message. You will get info to your heart's content and find case studies too if you dig. People who work on everest (by the way in the base camps) know that it is brutal to work there but people who work in these plants are made to believe that asbestos is safe to work in till it is too late. Such is the case with you too my bro 'Anoop'(meaning incomparable, the best), you may be incomparable if you work there but rest of us are just human beings trying to lead healthy life.

Have you ever been there in Everest? Have you worked there? Do you know people who worked there?.... I think you don't know. You have only book knowledge, which says "Asbestos is leading cause of lung cancer"... Do a true case study brother...

Hi Shiva,
You should meet the plant manager again now and may ask him if he can even smell now? Also, to the point that I was trying to make is that here in the US people do not live in the house with asbestos materials used in construction. Asbestos and such carcinogenic materials are baned by the government. I don't know why the Indian government is not waking up? The government instead of building vast foreign exchange reserves should spend more money in projects to educate and develop alternative jobs for people in such hazardous industries. Is that too much to ask from the government which is touting so much about economic growth
in India.
Thank you.

You really conquered.Years ago my work required me to pass by a paper mill sometimes. The stench nauseated me.I happened to meet the mill Manager one day and pointed it out to him.He sheepishly replied "It does not stink,to me,it smells like currency notes".
